David became a member of The Guild Theatre in 2001 and saw his first performance that year in The Club. He says he was immediately struck by the depth of experience of the cast and crew and loved the theatre at Rockdale.
David has come to the craft of Set Design in the past few years and recently completed a short course at NIDA. He loves to design and build things, so it’s a great opportunity to express his creativity.
‘For me The Guild is all about community. Putting on stage productions is a real team effort and unlike sport where there are winners and losers, in the Theatre everyone can win. Community for me is learning to embrace diversity, and a shared sense of purpose, having some fun and appreciating the good in others.’ – David Pointon
David’s Town
‘I spent some of my childhood years in country towns in South Australia. The familiarity of knowing others in the town and their business resonates with that experience. Otherwise Our Town is a marvellous insight into the ebbs and flows of life, and the spirit that underlies our activities and relationships.’
