Douglas is very happy to have found a close knit creative community at The Guild, of whom he says ‘it’s beautiful to see so many people mingling and being involved in something we’re all so passionate about.’ Born in the UK, he and his family moved to Australia when he was eight years old and he graduated from Charles Sturt University with a BA Stage and Screen in 2015. His favourite roles include Demetrius in A Midsummer Night’s Dream and the five different roles he played in the Genesians production of Sherlock Holmes and the Ripper Murders.
‘The people in community theatre are some of the most passionate, driven people I’ve ever met. Without them and likeminded people before to keep the love of the arts alive, theatre would never have become the vibrant, wonderful creative outlet I’ve always known it to be.’ – Douglas Spafford
